Forum was founded in Greenville, S.C. in 1999 as Palmetto Benefit Management, an independently owned insurance agency specializing in employee benefit planning and administration. We expanded to Charleston, SC in 2009 and Atlanta, GA in 2015.
In 2014, Forum became the first, and only, SC member of Benefit Advisors Network (BAN), a national association of best in class independent benefit consulting firms. This affiliation allows us to bring national resources such as legal and compliance, actuarial and reinsurance, captives, data analytics and benchmarking, HR administration and technology, and wellness and total health management.
Additionally, due to our aggregated size (2.5 million covered lives), we offer proprietary products and preferential pricing to our clients not seen elsewhere in the marketplace.
In January 2017, Forum joined 23 other entrepreneurial insurance and financial services companies across the United States to form Alera Group, an employee benefits, property/casualty, risk management and wealth management firm with approximately $158 million in revenue. The new firm has more than 850 employees serving more than 20,000 clients in 40 U.S. based offices across 18 states.
In December 2017, Forum purchased the employee benefits division of Walker Higgins in Spartanburg, S.C.
